WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT

 

Ruapehu Snow Sports - RSS - endorses RAL's 2019 World Class Competitive Alpine Ski Racing Training and Coaching Development Programs at Mt Ruapehu, North Island, NZ.

 

Do you enjoy racing gates at the NIPS - North Island Primary School Ski Championships - or NISSSC - North Island Secondary School Ski Championships?  

Are your goals to develop and become a world-class champion, weekend ripper or competition participant?

 

Do you want to take your skiing up a level and improve your technique?  

Come and join the Team Ruapehu Alpine Race Training programs taking place this winter at Mt Ruapehu.

 

The fully focused Snowsports training programs on weekends involves training for:

 

Team Ruapehu Alpine Ski - Slalom and Giant Slalom training at Whakapapa ski field.

 

The age of the athletes ranges from 7 - 19 years.  Previous ski race training is not necessary but all participants must be of intermediate to advanced ability and able to ski all areas at Mt Ruapehu.

These races are optional, but recommended  

 

 

ALPINE AGE CATEGORIES

 

ALPINE SKI RACING

To participate in formal and organised alpine racing in New Zealand, you must be a current and financial member of a ski club, and a member of Snow Sports New Zealand. All Snow Sport New Zealand and FIS Age Group athletes are classified only on the athlete’s Year Of Birth – regardless of the day or month of their birthday.

 

AGE CATEGORIES

Ref FIS Alpine Children’s Competition Rules Articles 607 & 608.

The new categories apply for the 2019/20 season with immediate effect for non FIS events to incorporate any early season series in New Zealand.

 

NEW AGE CLASSIFICATIONS NOW APPLY FOR THE 2019/20 SEASON:

 

Under 8 – Born 2013/2012

Under 10 – Born 2011/2010

Under 12 – Born 2009/2008

Under 14 – Born 2007/2006

Under 16 – Born 2005/2004

Under 19 – Born 2003/2001

 

These are the ages as set out by the FIS - Federation Internationale de Ski - International Ski Federation -  our governing body and these are the categories that we will use in racing this season. 

In essence it is the athletes age on 1 January

THE FINEPRINT

Included in your training cost of the program from RAL is a financial membership of RSS  ($80).  

This gives you access to the gym for dryland training, and voting rights.

Jacket hire is additional and we will determine the rates for 2019 season in the near future.

The Jacket hire cost is payable directly to RSS only
